| Rogers Wireless is a wireless telecommunications provider offering mobile phone and data services throughout Canada using Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System with High Speed Packet Access (UMTS/HSPA) and 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rogers Communications. As of Q3 2011, Rogers was Canada's largest cellphone provider with a subscriber base of over 9.2 million.[1] This number includes over 3.3 million Fido Solutions subscribers.[2] Taking into account all three of Rogers' mobile brands, there were 7.5 million (81%) on postpaid and over 1.7 million (18%) on prepaid.[1] In urban regions, Rogers' Chatr brand offers only prepaid service, but it is unknown how many subscribers use this service. |
